sshhhh... something's a-brewing

Consider this a soft launch: we've been toying with an updated youth website for some time now, and we're getting ready to formally launch it on next weekend's thanksgiving mass. What's the address?

http://youhf.wordpress.com

That's YOUhf. On it, we hope to release all our announcements, upcoming events and news for the youth scene in Holy Family. It's a bit sparse now, but in time to come we'll be filling up the space with news - starting with Camp Incredible.

PS: Haven't signed up for Camp Incredible? What are you waiting for?! Faster, no time already lah!

Uploaded!

All the photo's from our first Street Retreat have been finally uploaded! We have a total of 313 photos in this set (click here to see them all!) Don't be surprised if you see your picture up at 3 Sea Avenue starting from this weekend, as we'll be hosting a small exhibition of the photos taken to share with the parish.

Thanks for making the Street Retreat a success! Look out for the next Street Retreat at the later part of the year!

Come and See - Sandrine

"Where do you live?" asked the two disciples...This phrase just kept replaying over and over again in my head as i walked about under the hot afternoon sun.
Where does Jesus live? He lives in our hearts, in the people around us; where two or three are gathered, there is He. When you see beauty in nature, God's presence or touch is felt too.
Hence, the following pictures...=)

Others point him out to us, but who really sees him? Some of us see him in music. Others like to see him within ourselves. Is he a gentle breeze? Or is he in those of us we are around. We often cannot see clearly through the swirls.

Where do you live?
We are led by HIM and often we feel we're going in the opposite direction of others. And sometimes we feel alone of our paths. But if we look within ourselves our paths would be illuminated and our obstacles do not seem so unavoidable.
HE lives within our community. Once we realise this, there will be life in the barren areas of our lives.

Did the disciples believe that it was Jesus? Or did they trust John? Or did they follow him because they wanted to clarify their doubts about him?

Why did they ask him 'Where do you live?" Would that justify whether Jesus is really the lamb of God?

Why did the disciples stay with Jesus that day. Was it because it was late? Or because they wanted to follow him?

Jesus lives in house #3, and his neighbour #33!

There are many signs around his house.
'Welcome'
'24 hours'
'We are open'
'Now serving you even on Sundays'

Jesus encourages loving the environment.

He welcomes - the shy, the not so shy, and even the confused. Our Father, who does art in heaven...
Jesus has a card that certifies he is an art friend.

He has a playground at his backyard, beside Joseph's carpentry hut.

and 2 trees. One praising tree... and a sharing tree (to tell stories)

Jesus encourages donations to build his kingdom.

His house is clean and 'mozzie free'.

Initially I was clueless as to where I should begin. A little prayer for guidance and inspiration got me started and the phrase "where do you live?" was playing itself in my mind repeatedly. I appreciate the solitude and found solace in it.

Why did they ask "Where do you live"? What does it mean to ask such a question?

Perhaps it meant they wanted to know Jesus personally. They didn't ask "where do you work/play", which can be less personal. They asked where he lived because the house is an inner sanctum, a private space.

Jesus could be totally himself at home. Relaxed. And it is that Jesus they wanted to encounter. My shots were of a lot of houses, homes where people live in. Is Jesus there? I also had shots of my friends. To me, that's where I find God.

In this event Street Retreat, images had taken, they all reflected to me about the forgotten community that live in darkness.

The stable income people get to enjoy good shelter and food everyday. However the forgotten or the poor are somewhat tossed aside, some are force to live everyday by the unuse alley or street or, live day by day with unwanted items hoping to make some cash out of it.

Come and See - Jerry

Following God is like seeing “random” things and doing unimaginable things, from looking at things you never thought you see or things you never thought you would do. This Journey may be rough like stepping bare foot on rocks, or like walking in circles around the stairs as you make your way up. =)

Come and See - Jonathan

Jesus is like the wind blowing past us if we don't notice him.

Jesus will let us from the darkness to the light, into the sun.

Jesus could come at any time and ask us to follow him, so we must be prepared.

The two disciples left John and followed Jesus to his house. Anyone can be Jesus leading the way, and anyone can be the disciples following Jesus.

Jesus is standing there waiting for someone to notice him among the hustle and bustle.

There are a lot of times where we need to make a right choice in disciplhehood.

Disciplehood is not a straight path.

The lamb of God enables us to have such a great city.

Disciplehood is not a smooth path and may be rough at times.

Jesus is among us waiting to help us although it is harder to see him.

Jesus is like the flyer, standing tall watching us.

The way we can be disciples to Jesus is many, just as the sea is vast.

Disciplehood is a long path but there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

The house of Jesus can be as simple as this.

Marine Parade is Dirty.

Nobody stops to observe the little things around us. The surroundings. Everyone's too busy going about their busy life.

"Where do you live?"
I decided to set out to find out where Jesus lives...

The first thing i saw, and the last photo i took. With the 11.15am Mass celebrated with the Roman Catholic Prison Ministry, the crucifix behind the fence and wall and gate reminds me that Jesus also lives behind bars, alone at home, in the hospital....

"The ultimate living experience" is what this banner promises... quick dictionary search defines "Ultimate" as "last or final" but also as "basic or fundamental". Strange how opposites come together in this one word. When I can meet Jesus where He lives, all things will fall into place and even opposites can be reconciled.

Reminder to self: No use driving past... When I find Jesus, must park and live there for a while to see and experience!

Come and See - Peter

"Where do you live?"

Jesus is wherever my friend live. Friend who have taught me more about myself, whether they knew it or not, whether I knew it or not.

Chris Tan, Andre, Jon Tay, Candice, Manny, Ms Teo, Eugene "Duku", Augustin, Annie Ng, Alex Neoh, Tom and Marjorie, Nat, Dawn, Dom and Chris Ng.

And of course, to end off, I visited the home of my best friend of all time - Jesus. =)
